Car/Passenger Ferry from Meinohama Ferry Port to Noko Island In Hakata Bay. Note" Nokonoshima" means "Island of Noko" - so strictly speaking the name in English is Noko Island. The main ferry is a small but perfectly formed "sit up and beg" roll-on roll-off affair, that gives the impression that other, bigger ferries would tease it if they saw it... It is comfortable and well lit and pooters across to Noko at a gentle speed that gives ample time to enjoy the view. Private boat taxis are also available.
Both the Noko and Fukuoka-end terminals are clean, well lit and have toilets. Buy tickets from the automated machines.
Only cars of residents are permitted on the island.

Access - regular buses from Central Tenjin (in front of Mitsukoshi department store) or the north corner of Ohori Park. By subway, get out at Meinohama and take a bus or taxi.
