Specialized courts dealing with family affairs and juvenile cases. Information by Staff
Family courts have two major areas of responsibility.
1) Cases involving domestic disputes/conflicts within families of legal significance.
2) Cases involving juveniles (i.e. people under 20) and adults indicted for offences against juveniles. The general principal for cases in which juveniles are indicted is rehabilitative.
Cases are heard by a single judge on the basis (if required) of reports prepared by the Family Court Probation Officers and psychiatrists.
