Tenjin is Fukuoka's major downtown shopping area. Although technically Tenjin occupies only a small portion of the city centre, it is often used as a generic name for the whole downtown area.  | | • same vantage point, looking towards the bay |
It is one of the two central foci of Fukuoka, the other being the more business oriented Hakata Station area.
