Hakata St (Qjmp: 19024)
Transport hub and business area.
 | Hakata Station |
Hakata is the business, commercial and transport heart of Fukuoka and is not a noted shopping area. However the shopping arcade attached to the station contains a range of goods - many of which cater to the internal tourists trade with it's insatiable demand for o-miyage or souveniers. Hakata is famous for karashi -mentai (fish eggs in red pepper - the fisheggs "mentai-ko" themselves actually come from Tohoku in the north of Japan) and Hakata dolls made from porcelain.
Transport Hub
The station is an important transport hub as it links lines from Nagasaki, Kagoshima, Kumamoto and Oita to the Shinkansen backbone to Hiroshima, Osaka, Tokyo and Tohoku. Fukuoka airport is 5 minutes ride on the subway and there is a large bus station and expressway entrance.
There are many hotels, banks, and major companies in the area.

1 min from Hakata Stat st'n on foot.
