Sri Lankan Curry restaurant with reasonable value lunch.

The decor is pleasantly haphazard and the location convenient, Nuwara Eliya: Little England offers Akasaka office workers a range of Sri Lankan curries at lunch and dinner. Of dinner we cannot comment, but lunches are reasonable value with sets at 850, 1000 or 1600 yen a head. The 1000 yen set includes a salad, soup, main course, dessert and tea and is perfectly acceptable.
Things we liked: The decor - it is comfortable and bright, with giant picture windows over Akasaka. One corner has a fantasy "study" area and large bookshelves dominate one wall. Apart from that it is all bare concrete with wooden slabs. But it is comfortable and pleasantly eccentric, with large chairs and low tables promoting a certain leisureliness of mood.
Things we did not like: no vegetarian set at lunch. On one occasion we visited our request for "no meat please" was met with a lentil dish addition (which was delicious) - on another by the standard dish (rice, potato and curry sauce) sans meat: not really acceptable. We were later assured (after just the SMALLEST tantrum) that we could ask for vegetarian food "at the same price". If you go and you do not eat meat CHECK FIRST what you are going to get.
Evenings are more expensive, with prices from 5000yen for 2.
Our verdict: Worth a visit.
