Nestling in a side street off Yakuin Mutsukado, Pasta Pasta has all the ingredients of a succesful restaurant bar one - the food is simply not on a par with the rest of what this restaurant has to offer. It's got a comfortably authentic feel, pleasant and a little quirky, with an open kitchen and toiling chefs, the kind of place you might bring a romantic attachment for lunch or a slow dinner. The staff are attentive and the prices reasonable.
The menu offers home made pastas and spaghettis. I don't doubt they are home made - probably with great attention and love. But the final concoctions are disappointing - overly sweet and bland of flavour. I liked this restaurant enough to try both lunch and dinner, but on both occasions the only thing either I or my companion could really enthuse about were the olives.
There is a selection of wine starting at 300yen a glass or 1300yen a half bottle.
Give it a try - if the food improved it would be a gem.
At lunchtime the clientele is mainly female.
Western loo is not for the baroque of behind...
