If you didn't know of its existence, you'd probably miss it! It has only a counter with 8 seats, surrounded by lots of polaroid pics. It is very intimate, conversation flows easily between customers because of the close seating.
Kobayashi-san changes the menu daily depending on what he finds most fresh at the market. He makes about 20 to 25 different casual Japanese meals using a wide range of fresh vegetables, fish, and meat. Some dishes are on the counter to tempt you. Average price is about 500 yen per dish, and even most expensive only costs 850 yen. For drinks, there are black sugar shochu awamori (from Okinawa) and local sake.
2500 yen will buy a good meal with drinks. Reservations strongly recommended.
Walk from Ropponmatsu towards Nishijin. In front of Kyushu university there is a convenience store (POPLAR). Cross the street towards the Pachinko parlor. Walk 30 meters, the restaurant is marked by a red lantern on the right side.
