With Sue Butler

Those luscious fellas from Off Broadway, Vince and Allen, took a night off to play in Roots Hall, on what was posted as their first Friday night jam at.. "Fukuoka's trendiest night spot". Being excruciatingly trendy, I had to attend. Allen and Vince greeted all guests as if they were long lost siblings, blew their whistles, shoved a cold tinnie into waiting paws and maintained those astonishingly easy going demeanours they're famous for, all night long.

I'll do anything for free champagne ( ask anything! ) especially expensive stuff, so when one had to kiss the mystery man to procure a botty of Moet, I found him - he seemed to expect more! Be warned, the mystery man is not necessarily the most fanciable man in the place. A bottle of champagne isn1t always worth it. I swear the poster stated a mere dance was required.

The sleaze bucket in the red T-shirt wins the prize for the most true loves in one evening. I swear he proposed to, or at least propositioned with alacrity, at least half a dozen sweet young thangs, truly astonishing, and grim - they certainly know how to breed `em down there in Sasebo.

Just a couple of wee complaints. Firstly, keep the air conditioning up, there are many things I like doing bathed in sweat - dancing isn1t one of them. Secondly, sometimes I felt myself drifting back to one of those backpacker's beach resorts where 'I Come From the Land Down Under' stayed an incessant hit for at least five years. There has to be more new music somewhere on the planet that someone in Fukuoka will play, or did time really stand still when I left Australia three years ago?

A return visit a week later presented only half of the dynamic duo and half the customers. The good news is that it means there is a place to go to in Tenjin on a Friday night and dance your socks off that isn't packed to the gills! I'm sure Vince can be persuaded to play requests and the punch included with the Y500 entry is quite lethal. So, support the boys and get your undulating hips on down there.
