Star Trek: Generations
- Continued adventures with Picard, Riker, et al., oh and they put Kirk in this one too. The original Star Trek members are more distracting than engaging, but not enough to take away from the movie as a whole. Data gets an emotion chip, a maniac outlaw threatens the universe, Picard is cooler than Kirk. Good effects, a decent nights rental.
Four Rooms
- Four short stories by four talented directors, that's meant to be a California Suite for the 90's goes terribly wrong. Tom Roth, who normally spits out scenes like cherry pips can't even save this stinker. He plays a bellboy who is the common variable between the four rooms, but halfway through the story you wish he'd go on unemployment. Lots of talent, should've been entertaining, but doesn't come close.
Smoke
- Harvey Kietel runs a smoke shop and has many interesting customers. Slow, but worth your time as all the performances are well done. William Hurt proves his career isn't over and Forrest Whittaker does a good job too. A Good human behavior movie, just keep in mind that it is very slow and serious.
Dumb and Dumber
(Mr Dumber) - Jim Carrey being very stupid. It didn't generate one laugh from me. The physical humor is on the same plain as fart jokes and other things that made me laugh before I got a life. I can see why some poeple liked it, but the title describes you if you rent it.
The War
- a mistitled film with Kevin Costner and Elijah Wood. Post war movie about the awkward adolescent years, family and treehouses. Not nearly as bad as the press led you to believe, it is not exactly a "feel-good" film, but it is well done and worth a rental.
The Crow
- Yeah, it's a few years old, but this movie gets better each time I see it. Dark, vengeful and with a great soundtrack. Even earrier because Brandon Lee was killed during filming, this film would've cemented his career. See if if you haven't, the sequel comes out this summer.
