Nagahama & Docks  (Qjmp: 19006)

Post war reclaimed land and harbour area.

Looking towards Nagahama from Nishi Park. Tenjin is on the far left.

Information by Staff

The east end of Nagahama is the Hakata bay end of the central Downtown area. The remainder stretches off west towards the port area and Nishi park. The easteren end contains a few good restaurants, however, and the Tenjin entrance to the expressway. It is generally referred to as being "around the KBC building" (KBC being a local TV station). As one moves west, towards Nagahama proper, one gets into all a mass of tiny, grungy eating places with interesting smells and sounds. Nagahama ramen, a noodle dish in a pork stock is famous across Japan and is best consumed from a little outside eatung stall.

Moving east down the coast will bring you to the Bayside Place area.

Walk north (towards the sea) from Tenjin proper.
