Castle Grounds.

Just outside the castle walls in cherry blossom season. This area is spotlit at night.

Maizuru park is composed mainly of Fukuoaka castle grounds and is bounded on two sides by the what remains of the castle walls and moat. Part of the park is under archeological excavation as this is one of the older parts of the city. it is a very pleasant place to stroll, particularly on a moonlit night in cherry blossom season. In the center of the park on top of the mighty castle walls is a viewing platform from which most of the city is visible. The park contains the Heiwadai athletics track.

Looking down what remains of the moat at dusk.

For more information, see the link for Fukuoka castle in the sidebar.

Almost adjacent to Maizuri Park on the west side is Ohori park.

5 min from Akasaka st'n on foot.
